Merlins Magic Wand

Merlin's Magic Wand is a unique international charitable organisation set up in 2008 by Merlin Entertainments  ('Merlin').  The objective of Merlin's Magic Wand is to provide 'magical experiences'  for children worldwide who are seriously ill, disabled or disadvantaged.  This means providing the means and opportunity for such children to enjoy attractions /days out that they may otherwise not have been able to; or where this is not possible - bringing some special entertainment facility to them.
 
Registered in the UK, in addition to funding a number of major global entertainment initiatives, Merlin's Magic Wand also not only encourages each of our  60+ attractions and their staff to help raise money, but also to identify children and projects in their local area for us to support longer term.  Many of our suppliers also generously provide money or practical support to the Wand; in addition to that raised at our attraction sites from our visitors, or donated online at www.merlinsmagicwand.org.   In the two years of its operation the Wand has already helped bring ‘magic’ into the lives of more than 28,000 disadvantaged children and their families and carers around the world; and the number of applications is continuing to grow week on week.
 
Where The Money Goes
 
Entry to all of our 60+ attractions worldwide is provided direct by Merlin to the Magic Wand.   This allows us to spend our funds in a number of other ways:
 

  •  To support the visits of many of the children by contributing to transport, special care, subsistence  and other costs which may be essential if they are to take advantage of a day out at a Merlin attraction
  •  To develop and install tailor made entertainment ‘packages’ designed to take the Merlin magic out to those children who cannot come to us – these may be special Merlin entertainment rooms for children’s homes and hospices, or sponsoring staff to help entertain and visit children or provide time and resource to support a local group
  •  To provide information and administrative support to the organization, including the huge job of assessing and dealing with the thousands of individual applications we receive every month
